Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id – Meriyati Roeslani Hoegeng, the wife of the late retired Police General Hoegeng Iman Santoso, has passed away at the age of 100. Affectionately known as Eyang Meri, she died following intensive care at Bhayangkara Polri Hospital in East Jakarta. Prior to her passing, Eyang Meri had published a biography chronicling her life’s journey and unwavering dedication.
The sad news was confirmed by the head of Bhayangkara Polri Hospital, Brigadier General Prima Heru Yulihartono. He stated that Eyang Meri passed away at 1:24 PM WIB after receiving intensive treatment at the hospital in Kramatjati, East Jakarta.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Mrs. Meriyati Hoegeng has passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 1:24 PM WIB due to illness,” said Prima Heru.
The deceased’s body is currently lying in state at the family home in Pesona Khayangan Estate, Mekarjaya, Depok. The burial is scheduled to take place at Giri Tama Cemetery in Tonjong, Bogor, on Wednesday February 4, 2026, following the Dhuhr prayer.
For background, Meriyati Hoegeng was born on June 23, 1925. She married Hoegeng Iman Santoso on October 31, 1946, in Yogyakarta. The couple was blessed with three children: Renny Soerjanti Hoegeng, Aditya Soetanto Hoegeng, and Sri Pamujining Rahayu.
Throughout her life, Meri was renowned as Hoegeng’s devoted companion. She accompanied him during his postings from Medan to Jakarta. After Hoegeng’s retirement from the police force, the couple enjoyed their later years engaging in various artistic activities.
Hoegeng and Meri even gained public recognition as entertainers on radio and television. They were part of the show “The Hawaiian Seniors” on TVRI. The pair spent their retirement in Depok until Hoegeng’s death in 2004.
Marking her centennial milestone, Meri released her biography titled “Meriyati Hoegeng – 100 Years of Faithful Steps in Dedication.”
The book was compiled by her grandson, Krisnadi Ramajaya Hoegeng, and serves as a testament to the long journey of a devoted woman supporting her exemplary general husband. (aan/rhd)
