Affectionately known as Eyang Meri, she died following intensive care at Bhayangkara Polri Hospital in East Jakarta. The deceased’s body is currently lying in state at the family home in Pesona Khayangan Estate, Mekarjaya, Depok. The burial is scheduled to take place at Giri Tama Cemetery in Tonjong, Bogor, on Wednesday February 4, 2026, following the Dhuhr prayer.

For background, Meriyati Hoegeng was born on June 23, 1925. She married Hoegeng Iman Santoso on October 31, 1946, in Yogyakarta. The couple was blessed with three children: Renny Soerjanti Hoegeng, Aditya Soetanto Hoegeng, and Sri Pamujining Rahayu.

Throughout her life, Meri was renowned as Hoegeng’s devoted companion. She accompanied him during his postings from Medan to Jakarta. After Hoegeng’s retirement from the police force, the couple enjoyed their later years engaging in various artistic activities.

Hoegeng and Meri even gained public recognition as entertainers on radio and television. They were part of the show “The Hawaiian Seniors” on TVRI. The pair spent their retirement in Depok until Hoegeng’s death in 2004.
