Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office (BB TNBTS) has confirmed that tourist visits to the Mount Bromo area will reopen after the recent forest and land fires, starting Saturday, 19 September 2026, at 00.01 WIB. The decision follows confirmation that the fires, which began on 10 September, have been completely extinguished.

Head of BB TNBTS Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha explained that the intensive and coordinated firefighting efforts involved multiple sectors. Field evaluations showed the area is now safe and has sufficient carrying capacity to resume tourism activities.

“Based on the results of monitoring and evaluation of field conditions, as well as considering aspects of safety, the condition and carrying capacity of the area, the sustainability of tourism activities, and the socio-economic continuity of the community and tourism service providers, the Mount Bromo tourist area is declared able to reopen for tourist visits,” Rudijanta said.

He noted that firefighting operations and hotspot monitoring involved cross-sector teams, including the Ministry of Forestry, Manggala Agni, BNPB, BPBD, the Indonesian military (TNI), police (Polri), local governments, volunteers, and Fire Care Community groups (MPA).

Although the area has been declared safe and reopened to the public, officers will continue regular patrols and monitoring to prevent any new hotspots. Tourism operators and all visitors are also being urged to follow all regulations and instructions from field officers. This includes any temporary access restrictions at certain locations based on current conditions and avoiding any activities that could start a fire.

“Making campfires or fireplaces, burning anything, as well as throwing cigarette butts, matches, or other objects that could potentially become sources of fire,” Rudijanta warned.

All visitors and parties in the area must maintain cleanliness, order, security, and environmental preservation. They are also required not to interfere with ongoing monitoring, patrols, security, or fire response activities by officers.

“Prioritizing safety while being active in the area, paying attention to weather conditions, and following officers’ directions if conditions change in the field. It is also recommended to immediately report to officers if you find smoke, embers, hotspots, or other conditions that could potentially cause a fire,” he added.

Existing tickets remain valid for the reopening period.

“Visitors who already have Bromo visit tickets for the dates 19-30 September 2026 can use those tickets to make visits according to the date listed on the ticket, without needing to buy tickets again. Those tickets cannot be rescheduled or refunded,” Rudijanta concluded. (wul/mzm)
