Malang, SERU.co.id – Due to the impact of a forest fire in the Mount Bromo area, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office (BB TNBTS) has decided to completely close tourist visits starting Saturday (12/9/2026).
Head of BB TNBTS Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha explained that the decision had to be taken based on considerations of visitor safety and the smooth process of extinguishing the fire.
“Tourist visits to Mount Bromo from all entrance gates are completely closed. The closure is enforced from Saturday, 12 September 2026 until a further notice is issued,” Rudijanta said.
Rudijanta revealed that field inspections showed the second forest fire this time has spread further. In addition, dry-season conditions and strong winds have left the vegetation, especially the grass, very dry and can accelerate the spread of the fire.
This has ultimately caused thicker smoke around the affected area that could reduce visibility. It can also disrupt mobility, security and visitor safety, and hinder firefighting and handling efforts.
Rudijanta said visitors who have already purchased entrance tickets through the website bromotenggersemeru.id during the closure period will be given the opportunity to reschedule or request a refund, with the mechanism to be announced later.
Furthermore, access to the fire location is only permitted for officers, partners and volunteers involved in handling and extinguishing activities according to their duties and authority.
