Jember, en.SERU.co.id – Tourists flocked to the Watu Ulo and Papuma beach tourism areas in Jember during the 2026 Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) holiday break, drawn by an ultra-affordable integrated ticket package priced at just Rp12,500 (approximately US$0.80). The combination of economical entry fees and budget-friendly culinary packages has successfully lured thousands of visitors to these two signature East Java coastal destinations.
Bobby Arie Sandy, Head of Jember’s Department of Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism (Disporabudpar), confirmed a sharp spike in attendance. “For only Rp12,500, travelers can now access both iconic beaches in one go,” he said on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
According to the department’s official dashboard data, visitor numbers have climbed dramatically since the start of the extended holiday period:
March 21: 1,079 visitors
March 22: 3,742 visitors
March 23: more than 6,121 visitors
“We are seeing a steep upward trend in the visit graph. The numbers have been rising steadily since the long holiday began,” Bobby noted.
He predicted the enthusiasm would continue through the weekend, supported by ongoing school breaks across the region.
Beyond the beaches themselves, cultural attractions are adding extra appeal. On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the Pegon Festival will be held in collaboration with Ambulu Subdistrict and local villages. A colorful Pegon procession will start from Sumberrejo Village Hall and wind its way into the Watu Ulo area, featuring various captivating traditional arts performances for visitors to enjoy.
Addressing concerns about overpriced food at tourist sites, local authorities have restructured the culinary sector for greater transparency and affordability. Through the empowerment of local MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises), standardized economical meal packages are now available.
Options include individual packages starting at Rp40,000 per person and group packages priced at Rp180,000 for four people (complete set).
Bobby expressed appreciation for all on-site staff and urged visitors to remain vigilant and cooperative.
“We ask all guests to always follow the instructions of our officers for the safety of everyone. Thank you to all parties for their synergy in monitoring the Watu Ulo and Papuma areas,” he concluded. (sgt/rhd)
