Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat MM, has issued a firm prohibition against State Civil Apparatus (ASN) using official government vehicles (mobil dinas) for mudik (homecoming travel) during the Lebaran holiday period in 2026.

The ban was communicated widely to all ASN ahead of the Idulfitri break.

“ASN who wish to return to their hometowns during the Idulfitri holiday are welcome to do so using their personal vehicles. Do not use government-owned official cars,” Mayor Wahyu emphasized.

He explained that monitoring the use of official vehicles cannot be handled by one person alone. Responsibility for supervision falls to the heads of each Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD, or heads of departments/agencies).

“The oversight is assigned to the respective department heads. I have tasked each OPD leader to check and double-check,” he stated.

In addition, OPD heads are required to report the condition and location of official vehicles throughout the holiday period. These reports must be submitted via internal groups, complete with photo documentation showing the vehicle’s whereabouts.

“It’s impossible for us to inspect every single vehicle individually. Through these reports in the group, including photos, we can clearly see the status, and I insist on updates to prevent any misuse of official vehicles,” Wahyu clarified.

If any ASN is found violating the rule by using an official vehicle for mudik purposes, the Malang City Government will impose sanctions.

“Violators will face consequences. Even attempts to evade the rule by changing license plates will still be detected,” he asserted firmly.

This measure aligns with national guidelines on the proper use of state assets and aims to ensure accountability, prevent abuse of public facilities, and promote responsible behavior among civil servants during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebrations. Safe journeys to all heading home for Lebaran! (bas/rhd)
