Malang, SERU.co.id – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operation 8 Surabaya has once again reminded the public in the Malang region and nearby areas to avoid “ngabuburit” (pre-dawn or pre-ifftar gatherings) around railway tracks. This warning applies to activities after sahur (pre-dawn meal) as well as while waiting for iftar (breaking the fast), and any other presence near the rail lines.

Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Mahendro Trang Bawono, stressed that railway travel safety is non-negotiable. The risk of accidents is extremely high and can result in fatalities for both the public and train operations.

“We understand that Ramadan is a time of togetherness, including ngabuburit activities. However, we reiterate to the people of Malang not to use the railway tracks as a gathering spot. The accident risk is very high and can be fatal for individuals and disrupt train services,” Mahendro stated in an official release to SERU.co.id.

As part of its safety commitment, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya consistently conducts outreach through school visits, community engagements, and public education forums in the Malang area. Security patrols along the tracks have been intensified, with heightened monitoring at vulnerable points, especially during Ramadan and the 2026 Eid transport period.

KAI Daop 8 invites the community to actively participate in safety efforts. If anyone spots dangerous or suspicious activities near the tracks, they should immediately report it to KAI personnel or authorities to prevent unwanted accidents.

“We are committed to creating a safe, orderly, and comfortable railway environment for everyone, particularly in the Malang region during Ramadan and approaching Eid. Railway safety is our shared responsibility,” he concluded.

Violations of these provisions may result in criminal sanctions or fines as stipulated in Article 199. (*/rhd)
