Malang, en.SERU.co.id – President Prabowo attended the Mujahadah Kubro marking Nahdlatul Ulama’s (NU) first century, held at Gajayana Stadium. During the event, he reminded NU elites of the need for harmony and prioritizing the ummah’s interests.
President of Indonesia, General TNI (Ret.) H. Prabowo Subianto, highlighted NU’s long-standing role in the nation’s history. Kyai, ulama, and santri were deeply involved in the fight for and defense of independence.
“We have proven that we will no longer bow to foreign nations seeking to colonize us. NU has always set an example by striving to maintain unity—and that is our history,” Prabowo declared before hundreds of thousands of participants at the Mujahadah Kubro on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Prabowo continued that the value of unity must be preserved. He asserted that no nation can advance if its leaders are not in accord.
“That’s why I always invite all elements: let’s unite. We can compete, rival, differ, and debate, but in the end, all community leaders must live in harmony and safeguard unity,” he stated.
He acknowledged that human history teaches that prosperity is impossible without peace, and peace cannot exist if leaders are not united and cohesive.
“Leaders at every level—political, economic, intellectual—must think, fight, and serve for the people’s interests. Leaders must not harbor grudges; they must not feel hatred or envy over others’ mistakes,” he emphasized firmly.
He advised leaders to always fulfill their entrusted responsibilities for the ummah’s benefit. In his view, all disputes and differing opinions can be resolved through humility and collective efforts to reach consensus.
“Our teachers, the kyai, and our ancestors taught us ‘mikul dhuwur mendem jero’—to honor the high and bury the deep. Hatred has no place; differences are fine. But behind those differences, seek common ground through deliberation to achieve agreement,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the East Java NU Regional Board (PWNU), KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, described the Mujahadah Kubro 1 Abad NU as highly monumental. He admitted that as NU approaches its centennial, the organization has faced various dynamics.
“There are indeed dynamics, but especially in East Java, we are all solid across our 45 NU Branch Boards (PCNU). That’s why we took the initiative to hold this Mujahadah Kubro,” said the man fondly known as Gus Kikin.

Gus Kikin hoped that this Mujahadah Kubro would enhance solidarity among Nahdliyyin members, particularly in East Java. The event, attended by NU elites, is grounded in the spirit of brotherhood (ukhuwah) and reconciliation (islah) from leaders, including the Rais Aam and General Chairman of the NU Central Board (PBNU).
“May this Mujahadah Kubro serve as a provision for NU’s unity. It’s become interesting now, as there were dynamics followed by efforts to build ukhuwah,” he affirmed.
For context, reconciliation (islah) among NU leaders was conducted at Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School on Thursday (December 25, 2025). That meeting marked a turning point in the organization’s internal dynamics.
PBNU Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar and General Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf expressed their commitment to unifying leadership until the 35th Muktamar. (bas/rhd)
